THE TREE OF LIFE STONE

Meet Jur at the sundial in Wharfemeadows Park, Otley. Depart 9.30am.  Afternoon stop at Cockpit Tearooms.

The Tree of Life stone is a Bronze Age cup-marked stone on Snowden Carr, adjacent to Askwith Moor, north of Otley. The stone owes its name to the singular shape of its carvings.

The walk is characterised as 'moderate/hard' because access to the moor the stone is somewhat awkward (ditch, fence) and the moor itself, crossed after the stone to reach Askwith Moor, is Open Access land, pathless except for sheep trails.

No dogs on this walk because we'll pass through several fields where we're likely to meet cows with calves and bull. The Cockpit Tearooms to recuperate! Sorry but no dogs on the walk.

Discover the famous bronze age Tree of Life stone.
